Is there an online version of Neighbor George, or a pdf. I'm wondering based on this line: "Somehow nobody bothered to publish it, which we may have benefited from in the end." There doesn't seem to be a link.

Hey Joseph. My bad. The book is now available, published by Strange Attractor and MIT Press: https://www.amazon.com/Neighbor-George-Victoria-Nelson/dp/1913689301

Also, on CASmith: the man's sculptures are weirder than his weird fiction. In all the best ways. (And I assume you know it, but the documentary CAS: The Emperor of Dreams is definitely worth your time... even took a second to check to see if you were IN it and I'd forgotten...heh)

Yes I love the sculpture (much more than the art), and while the documentary was not so great as a doc, it was highly worthwhile. My favorite bit was actually seeing Harlan Ellison go gaga fan, that was sweet and unexpected. One of the things I love about "City of the Singing Flame" is that at the beginning, when he is talking about Crater Ridge (a real place) you can see how his sculpture emerges from his weird animistic impressions of weird animist rocks. Here is an example:

Reading your paper airplane note earlier today made me send you an email I've wanted to send for awhile. But I'll pipe up here, too, as just an out of the blue fan who's read/listened to you for years and always wanted to at least send a note... but just didn't. But High Weirdness was a bit of a kick in the ass to get me to work harder on something I've been playing around with starting for a long time. So you not only have fans, but actually inspire some -- I won't say copy cats, but let's say you may well be leading by example without even knowing it.

Hi Craig. Thanks for the kind words. It means a lot. I am coming to believe that, at least for some of us, there is an inherent bias in online "publishing" that increases the sense of alienation and insecurity. Though old school publishing would seem to have it even worse -- there is much less of a mechanism for feedback in a magazine article or book -- something about its materiality and the familiarity of the ecosystem of print is satisfying in a way that writing and producing non-viral work online just isnt, at least for me. So again I really appreciate knowing that I have inspired what Terence McKenna once declared both of us to be: "fellow grunts in the culture wars"!

Always looking forward to your writing, and the trippy links are great! My DMG newsletter used nature boy as there featured song lyric for December, a synchronicity for your Jesus freak music list. Thanks, all the best for the new year!

It’s a New York record store that sells mostly vinyl, they always pick something cool from the 60s post the lyrics with a little riff before they go on to show the record sales of the month.

I’m always looking for new weird music!
